For sixteen years, Zephyr Christian Church has offered a one-day a week preschool experience called Thursday School. We have decided to build on that experience and expertise and start a five-day per week, year-round Christian preschool called Train Up A Child Preschool. We have planned our preschool with working mothers in mind. Children can be dropped off as early as 6AM so parents can make the commute to work and children can be picked up as late as 6PM. We are in the process of creating the Preschool and when we have more information we will update this page. As of now, we are NOT OPEN, but we plan on announcing that information soon.
Train Up A Child Preschool will have two equal emphases:
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at (813)-780-8002 or email us at trainupachildprek@gmail.com
Train Up A Child Preschool will be accredited with FCCPSA (Florida Coalition of Christian Private Schools Accreditation). We consider the Florida state licensing standards and the accreditation standards as the baseline and seek to operate above and beyond those standards. Our director, teachers, and volunteers will meet or exceed any state or accreditation requirements.
Yes. They will be trained in CPR, First Aid, Child Protection, and Fire Safety. Again, the staff will meet or exceed all state and accreditation requirements.
There is a non-refundable registration cost of $200 and this will be credited to the first month's tuition. Tuition for preschool (8:00AM - 12:30PM) is $700 per month ($35/day); Extended Day is offered for an additional $200 per month ($10/day). Extended day is available from 6:00AM - 8:00AM and 12:30PM - 6:00PM. Because we are committed to using the best teaching materials available and we are committed to teaching Christ-based character and morality, we are not accepting VPK from the state. They have put restrictions on what teaching materials can be used and what can be taught that are at cross-purposes with the goals of Train Up A Child Preschool. But remember, preschool tuition is still tax-deductible.
Yes. This will be further explained in the Handbook when you register your child, but children will be expected to provide their own lunch and snacks.
The primary curriculum for Pre-K4 will be Abeka; considered by many to be the finest preschool and homeschooling curriculum available. That will be supplemented by Haggerty Phonics, which is used throughout Pasco Public Schools. For Pre-K3, the curriculum will be a combination of the materials we used in Thursday School, supplemented by Abeka and Haggerty.
All of these situations will be covered in the Handbook once you register your child for Train Up A Child Preschool.
Parents will be expected to provide a change of clothing "just in case," and a water bottle for the playground. Children who are in Extended Day will also need a clean sheet each week for a nap mat.
